Holy moley you have no idea how long this image has been sitting in my brain….probably since the middle of high school! I went through a giant obsession with all things Joker from Batman and coincidently had my first exposure to Prince via the Batman soundtrack about the time I was 16, and I seriously tried to draw this image over and over and was never satisfied with it. Mostly because The Joker goes down as one of the HARDEST characters to draw out there - even though he’s had a million and half different designs and reboots and whatever, it’s just so hard to get him looking well….Jokerish. Anyway, I’m rambling.
The Joker you see here isn’t inspired by the movie!Joker at all, it’s more like the classic “A Killing Joke” version which is definitely my favourite; kind of a mash up of Prince, Michael Jackson and some heavy 80’s fashion thrown in with a touch of feminine qualities. But that’s Vicky Vale from the movie, because that’s all I can imagine in my head when I hear that line from “Party Man” from the soundtrack - “I love purple!”.
Okay none of that was probably understandable but I’m very proud of this drawing right now and I think I need to go to bed.
