Well it was supposed to be a Valentine’s Day drawing, and then it turned into wanting to draw those Nike Night Track shoes and then somehow ended up suspiciously 90’s?
I am so fucking excited right now. I’ve been waiting for Nike to release these babies for YEARS. Turns out I’m a little behind because as usual Australia doesn’t get things until ages after the US. Btw these are THE Studio 54 shoes, originally released in 1978 in a limited run and worn by people like Steve Rubell and MJ. They have a glittery sole so you can take the disco with you wherever you go!

This is the version I originally had, and I didn’t like it at all. There’s a full-body one too….just one of those drawings that I had all planned out in my head and then couldn’t execute it the way I wanted to.

Well this wasn’t what I was planning at all with this drawing but it just kind of happened and ended up as a mock film frame? I really love that photoshoot of MJ from 1979 at his desk at Hayvenhurst, with that big wicker chair behind him. So I guess now he gets to be a 1970’s black and white movie villain? Oh man, he would’ve been an awesome James Bond villain, can you imagine. Popstar gone mad.

If someone says something is hurtful/racist/sexist/offensive/whatever, it normally means that it is and that you should stop doing it. Ignorance is one thing - I’ve been there before and I’m glad I pulled my shit together and changed - but being an entitled asshole is just really pathetic.
In 1999 I was eight years old and I’m fairly certain coloured-glass sunnies and two buns were the ultimate in cool. And this song was the best thing going.
